Beauty demands sacrifices

In Russia there is an interesting idiom: beauty demands sacrifices. I know myself it is damn true. For example, I have to use a lot of makeup to feel myself beautiful. It takes a lot of time to apply it, than to keep it fine, than to wash it off my face. Make up gives me self-confidence, however it is super annoying to do it as a routine.

Other thing that I have to sacrifice to look beautiful is my meals. I have to always plan what I will eat and be very strict to myself to avoid gluttony and therefore overweighting. And if I break these restrictions I will definitely REALLY break them eating a lot of forbidden things. Of course after that I will feel myself miserable and guilty.

All that stress that I’ve got because of my own standards is a painful price to beauty. And I’m not the only person who is ready to sacrifice  on the  altar of beauty. Such a silly decision made by millions and millions of people every single day all around the world. But it makes us feel good…

So let me quickly show you couple of pictures I’ve taken at -20 C outside with my friend Natasha. She really wanted to have lovely winterish photos, but the temperature outside the day we decided to shoot was FREEEEEEEEEEEZING. However, afterwards we decided that this sacrifice was a good one.

And what are you sacrificing for beauty?

Photoshop: before and after

I’ve been photographing for several years already and I never could imagine myself without Photoshop. This program is powerful and complicated, but thanks to youtubers it is possible to learn photoshopping checking out many-many manual videos.

That’s what I’ve been doing for several years and I think I have some progress. But there is always something new to learn there. For example, how to make freckles.

I had to photoshop some skin areas of the model, and some of her own freckles were gone. So I decided to paint her new ones, but I had to learn how to. I got the idea from this channel.  And look at the result!

Spring is the best time for promises

I haven’t been posting to my blog for a really while.

Health problems, mood swings and work at the Uni took away all my energy. But I want to say enough!

I want to tell what’s new in my life and show the pictures I’m taking. I want to get better body, and find some time to learn Finnish. So I will start all of it today. 1st of March, why not?

So here is my promise-list to myself for this month. I promise:

  • To publish new photos at my blog at least every week;
  • Too finish my first article;
  • To do sports at least 3 times per week;
  • To learn Finnish at least 3 times per week;
  • To eat not more than 1400 kkal per day;
  • To keep track of weight and body parameters;
  • To make at least 2 romantic dinners with my hubby.

Let’s see what will happen! I know I can make it! =)

Anyways, spring is here! And how are you guys doing?

Cold, but beautiful

Finally winter came to Jyvaskyla. And I should say it is my favorite time of year! Probably, it is because I was born in the place where her Majesty Winter rules for 9 month. But actually it is because everything is so white, fresh and fun! You can go for ice skating, or skiing, or sledding.

Let’s unleash the dog!

Meet Tosya, our lovely dog. Tosya likes running, biting and barking. Pretty ordinary dog. It also LOVES walking unleashed.

BUT in Finland walking dog unleashed is prohibited. This is logical, ’cause controlling the leashed dog is easier than unleashed one. But dogs love to run freely and finns love dogs, so they made really comfortable dog parks around cities where dogs can enjoy the free run with buddies. This is so cool for our fluffy-butt-corgi Tosya! So I want to show you the dog park 5 minutes away from our home, and some pics how our welsh corgi enjoys it.
