We had a couple of guest during our life in J-city. If person comes to Jyväskylä first time he/she wants to know what are the best way to see the city in couple of hours.
Evgeny’s brother Slava visit us during Xmas time. It was lovely family holiday, and we’ve decided to walk around the city to the the best parts of it. We’ve started our walk from the city harbor: there is a beautiful view to Jyväsjarvi and easy access to the city center.
To get to the city center we went across the bridge above railways.
There are some funny sculptures in J-city. I love metal deer one.
Colored yellow way to the main city street Kauppakatu.
On the way to it there is an art object (lovely ice-cream). American artist Jim Bachor decorated several places in JKL with this lovely art. You can read about it here -> (https://frankiebeane.wordpress.com/tag/jyvaskyla/)
Main street was full of people.
Everyone was enjoying Xmas time.
The sculpture at the picture is “Kahden kesken” made by Matti Peltokankaan. It symbolizes mother and son. By the way, there is a cool website in Finnish about sculptures in JKL (http://www3.jkl.fi/taidemuseo/veistokset/index.html).
Showcases of shops were decorated fairy tale style.
Spending Xmas with family is the biggest happiness for us.
After a long walk guys were super hungry. Slava asked us to go to Kebab house.
They have giant portions there.
In December it’s getting dark very soon. At 4 pm it’s already like night-night.
So it was our 3 hours walk. Fast way to see the JKL-city, to get the main idea of it. I think simple walking is a key for it. What is your fast way to see city?
